Just up the hill in our village Pujols. Malvina and her friendly team serve a relaxed menu de jour style lunch mid week and à la carte on Saturday, in summer you can sit on the terrace under the trees. The kitchen is simple home style cooking. Open Friday nights also
3 minutes by car in the next village over. Didier & Marina have a lovely very local little restaurant which is also menu de jour or à la carte on the weekends, where Didier will cook fish & beef on the open fire. They have a small summer courtyard terrace. Book weekends only. Mainly open only for lunch
Domain de Malis is right on the river, about 5 minutes by car. It is an old château that has been lovingly restored by Nathalie & Olivier. They offer a table d'hôte dining experience as well as tea rooms with a bar. Nathalie who is a pastry chef also offers chocolate making workshops
A local restaurant with a Basque flair, 8 minutes by car in the main square of Castillon-la-Bataille. A great lunch spot, especially after the Monday Castillon market, but you need to book as it gets busy. Menu de jour or à la carte. Opt for the terrace in summer
Simple but good food right on the banks of the Dordogne, with stunning views of Castillon. Just before you go over the bridge to Castillon. 7 minutes by car. Great in the evenings, they will often have music as well
A lovely family run château used for events as well as running the restaurant. The terrace has beautiful views over the rolling countryside. The kitchen has both menu de jour and à la carte options in the week. 10 minutes by car
This is a must, right on the Dordogne river in Branne, Pierre runs an eclectic and stylish restaurant where you rub shoulders with local vignerons & wine industry types. The kitchen is fabulous especially if you love a big old steak, either beef or veal. They also have great fish dishes & oysters. Sit on the terrace in summer or inside by the cozy fire in winter. 12 minutes by car
Another great restaurant overlooking the Dordogne. The chef was Michelin * but they took the decision to run as a non starred restaurant to free up their style. It's a gastronomic restaurant with very fine food. 10 minutes by car
Owned by Château Pavie, this bistro is a Saint Emilion icon. It has just renovated a new space to make it larger and also has a beautiful courtyard terrace. It's right next to the church at the top of Saint Emilion. The kitchen is pure French bistro with a wine bible, rather than a list ! Frequented by locals, chateau owners & visitors alike. 15 minutes by car
Brand new sister bistro to L'Envers du Décor, this is on the big square next to the clock tower also at the top of Saint Emilion. It's a more relaxed version with the same kitchen team, but you can have a burger, a pizza or a salad as well as the French bistro classics.
Owned by Château Angelus, this Michelin * restaurant is superb. The kitchen delivers various gastronomic menu options that are both sublime and elegant. The interiors of the restaurant are stylish and chic. It is located on the main steep cobblestoned path of Saint Emilion - access means avoid leather soled shoes or heels. 15 minutes by car
Owned by Château Pavie, this is a Michelin ** restaurant. Located at the top of Saint Emilion, with stunning views from their garden terrace, this is the place to go if you want the very best that gastronomic restaurants have to offer. It will not disappoint but you need to allow a good 2.5hrs - 3hrs for the full gastronomic experience. One cannot be hurried ! 15 minutes by car
A lovely little restaurant closer to the bottom of Saint Emilion. Park at the bottom to avoid negotiating the steep hill. This is a charming restaurant with a lovely little garden terrace under a beautiful tree. The menu is refined and delicious. 15 minutes by car
This is a gorgeous château location, overlooking the hills of the Saint Emilion appellation. The terrace is stunning as are the recently renovated interiors. The kitchen is run by Stefan and his team. The food is delicious and a bit adventurous in a very good way. It's well worth a visit. The weekday menu de jour is very good value or the à la carte is also well priced. 12 minutes by car
Le Pessaquai has incredible views over the Dordogne river. It is very relaxed and has a lovely comfortable covered terrace where you can watch the birdlife diving & swimming. The chef is Irish and she has an eclectic style. Dishes range from traditional French, to asian inspired lighter dishes to more traditional Irish fare in winter. They have very good fish & chips on a Friday night. You will need to reserve. 15 minutes by car
This contemporary busy bistro overlooks many famed Pomerol chateaux including Cheval Blanc, which is just next door. Petrus is down the road! It is usually bustling with wine tourists and with good reason, the menu is very good. The open kitchen overlooks the1st floor restaurant which leads to a big contemporary style terrace. They also do wine tastings & tours which you can do before or after you eat. Reservations are essential for the restaurant & the wine tasting. 20 minutes by car
Set in the heart of the village of Pomerol, this lovely local restaurant has a bistro style menu as well as menu de jour during the week. You'll bump into local vignerons from Pomerol and Saint Emilion. Its not on the tourist trail. 25 minutes by car
This château is in the Saint Emilion appellation and its recently refurbished restaurant and terrace overlook the rolling hills. It is a classic French menu which you can pair with one of their wines or something else from local producers. 15 minutes by car
